Anima Negra Callet
Anima Negra is a modern Callet that extends beyond the trend of powerful fruit wines with deep colors and that captures the Mediterranean landscape in a glass. The winery is located in the town of Felanitx, in the southeast of Mallorca. The wines are made in the old “possession” of Son Bruguera where the vinification facilities already existed in the 13th century. The farm has been a dairy for a time, but wine production regained its place in 1994 thanks to the efforts of Miquel Ángel Cerdà and Pere Obrador. At first they were assisted by the winemaker Francesc Grimalt, who now runs his own very interesting project on the island (4 Kilos); Ánima Negra currently employs Xavier Ausàs, a former Vega Sicilia winemaker, as a consultant.
Anima Negra comes from old Callet vines, a variety that only exists in Mallorca. They are planted in poor soils that are rich in iron oxide on calcareous rocks and with fruit trees living alongside. Harvesting is done manually when the grapes reach their optimum maturity.
In the winery, Ànima Negra AN ferments at a controlled temperature in 5,000-liter cement tanks and 3,000-liter wooden tanks. It is macerated for 25 to 30 days and undergoes malolactic fermentation with 60% in barrels and the rest in cement tanks. Finally, it ages in new French oak barrels.
Ànima Negra AN is a wine made with a unique variety that is only found in Mallorca. It is a 100% Mediterranean wine that reflects the sun, salinity and energy of the island. (Source AN)
A great monovarietal from Callet de VT Mallorca with 18 months in the barrel. Ripe red fruits on the nose with toasted notes and subtle balsamic notes. Not alcoholic and very nice. It is elegant and structured. Its tannins are silky. In its passage in the mouth you find memories of spices and tobacco. In short, it is a great wine that anyone can enjoy.
